The Friends of the Library will have the fall Book Sale on October 18-19, 2002. Times:
Friday: 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Saturday:10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
A partial listing of the many fine books will be posted in the FRIENDSHOP. Members and dealers may come at 10:00 a.m. Friday to have first choice.
The selection this year offers great variety with opportunity for families to have reference books, travel books, adventure books, photographic and art books. Home-schoolers will find great bargains for the home library. Collectors can choose from space, flight, warfare, old books, and sets of great books in fine condition.
The FRIENDSHOP continues to enjoy a steady supply of fiction, mystery, good paper backs, best sellers, recent releases, and political volumes. Come and browse. Don't forget the ANNEX on the second floor. There are many, many books of all categories at bargain prices. Help us make room for more. ALL CONTRIBUTIONS GO TO OUR PUBLIC LIBRARY ONLY. KEEP OUR LIBRARIES UP TO DATE AND FREE! YOUR SUPPORT IS ESSENTIAL!

New Hours for the Richland County History Room
The Richland County History Room is now open Monday through Friday with the same hours of 10:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. The new email address is: richlandctyhistoryroom@yahoo.com October is Family History Month, and October 20-27 is Archives Week.
Monthly Friends Meetings
The Friends of the Library will meet monthly, starting with the October meeting, which will be Monday, October 21 at 7:00 P.M. at the Library. Great effort will be made to limit monthly meetings to one hour or (dare we hope!) less.
Love of Learning II: Moo
The Friends will be working with UW-Richland's Marnie Dresser on the application for mini-grants through the Wisconsin Humanities Council. These funds will help defray expenses related to author Jane Smiley's appearance at a campus/community forum in January to discuss her novel, MOO. The campus is also looking for program ideas that will promote campus/community interaction and discussion relative to this literary experience.
Preschool Story Hour
Children about 3 to 5 years old are invited to participate in story hour on Friday mornings at either 9:30 A.M. or 10:30 A.M. Topics for September include:
September 4 - Birthdays
September 11 - Days of the Week
September 18 - Clams and Pearls
September 25 - No Story Hour today
Kindergarten through 3rd Grade children will have a pizza making party story hour on Saturday, September 19, at 10:00 A.M.
