Robert Frost in the Millennium Spotlight
Usher in the fall season with Robert Frost, America's greatest poet. Revisit his bending birches, his ice storms and his paths diverging in the wood, and discover something new as well; his dramatic works, and some of his never before published prose writings. ROBERT FROST, COLLECTED POEMS, PROSE, and PLAYS (Richard Poirer and Mark Richardson, editors), a Millennium Collection book, has all of this and more.
Millennium Collection Books are shelved according to call number. For help finding this volume or any other in the Millennium Collection, inquire at the circulation desk.

MOO!
Join the Campus-Community Shared Reading Experience
Plan on attending author Jane Smiley's lecture on Thursday, January 30, 2003 at the Coppertop Theater, University of Wisconsin - Richland Center, 7:00 P.M. In the meantime, read MOO, Jane Smiley's darkly comic novel set at a Midwestern agricultural campus. Featuring large pigs, large grants, and political, sexual, and intellectual intrigue, this novel turns the campus into a microcosm of today's western world with a vision that is alternately sad and wise, but always comic. All UW-Richland students will read MOO during the fall semester, and community members are invited to read the book as well and participate in upcoming discussion sessions. Copies of the book are available at the Brewer Public Library. So start reading, and watch for announcements of upcoming discussion sessions in the Brewer Times and from UW - Richland Continuing Education.

New Friends Brochures
Our Friends membership brochures have a new look, thanks to Gordon Glass for permitting us to use his copyrighted artwork, and to Tim Hogensen, who worked with the Friends on the update. The new brochures will be available at the circulation desk.
Millennium Moments
Over a dozen members of our community will be recording short excerpts from books in the library's Millennium Collection of classic American literature. Thanks to the generosity of Ron Fruit and WRCO, these promotional spots will air on a rotating basis. The Friends submitted the grant application that provided the funds for the purchase of this collection, and the radio spots are to inform the public and encourage the reading of these books.
A Breath of Fresh Air
Library staff and patrons are breathing easier, thanks to two new ceiling fans purchased by the Friends and installed in the area above the main circulation desk. Many thanks to Fred Graf for the time and expertise he donated to this project.
Friends Book Sale
Plans are in the works for another Friends book sale, tentatively scheduled for October. Watch for details after the Sept. 16 meeting, or leave your name at the circulation desk if you want to help with the sale.
Computer Workshops
Thanks to Moody Ahmad and Jim Zwadlo for teaching a series of computer workshops in July and August. The Friends hope to sponsor more computer skills workshops in the future.
Please submit news, event information, book reviews, and other library related material for the October newsletter by September 26. Submissions may be left at the children's desk or e-mailed to Greg Myszkowski at grmyszko@yahoo.com.
